Books & Brown Bags
Wednesdays 6:00 p.m.
Joe Gettys Classroom
Do you love to read? Do you enjoy chewing over ideas with friends while enjoying a snack? Then you should check out Westminster’s Books & Brown Bags group! This lively bunch of bibliophiles chooses books that challenge, enlighten, and entertain. They get together on Wednesday evenings to discuss their reactions while diving into brown bags snack suppers they bring.
B&BB is a gathering of diverse individuals with a variety of viewpoints to consider. It is safe space to discuss tough questions and challenging topics. Your unique voice will definitely be welcome!
Feel free to drop in any time—you don’t have to wait until the start of a new book. You may, of course, want to read some of the book being discussed before you come, so you have context for the conversation. And don’t forget to bring your brown bag snack supper and something to drink.
Group members share recommendations, discuss the options, and decide by consensus which books to tackle. Discussions stretch over however many weeks it takes to adequately cover the subject. Topics range from spiritual texts and self-help to allegories and memoirs.
Here are just some of the books that this group has savored:
-
Evidence Not Seen, by Darlene Deibler Rose
-
Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again, by Rachel Held Evans
-
Theo of Golden, by Allen Levi
-
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, by C. S. Lewis
-
